The City of Jyväskylä will switch off the coloured lights of the Kuokkala and Ylistö bridges today at 19:00 to remind the public of the impact of the Russia's war of aggression on the lives of Ukrainians

The Embassy of Ukraine has approached Finnish cities with a request to show their support for Ukraine by turning off Christmas lights or other illuminated sites for one minute at 19.00. The global campaign is a reminder of the impact of Russia's war of aggression on the lives of Ukrainians. Due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, millions of people in Ukraine are currently without electricity.

In Jyväskylä, the coloured lights will be switched off from the Kuokkala and Ylistö bridges on 21 December 2022 at 19.00.

Finland’s Susijengi, the Lauri Markkanen homecoming, and amity across borders

For the first time in 34 years, Jyväskylä will host a men’s basketball national team game. Finland’s national team, Susijengi, faces Ukraine at LähiTapiola Areena on Thursday, August 18, as they gear up for EuroBasket 2022.
