The exhibition by an internationally known designer, Ilona Rista, showcases new kind of Finnish wood culture. The wood artist’s playful approach to digital materials has produced a fun, yet serious collection of material and immaterial works that combine wood art with technology. The exhibition will be held at the Craft Museum of Finland’s Lobby Gallery 12 September–5 December 2020.
What does the past of handicrafts look like in the eyes of modern designers, and what kind of inspiration can be drawn from the collection at the museum? The designers invited to the In Good Hands exhibition have had the chance to explore the extensive archives, founded in 1879, of the Friends of Finnish Handicraft at the Design Museum. After this they have created their works in dialogue with the archive materials.

The five sculptors of The Other Nature of Ceramics exhibition bring out their personal relationship with nature and art making as well as tell about their thoughts behind their works. They observe the surrounding nature and interpret it sculpturally through ceramics.

Galleria Ratamo organizes exhibitions for printmaking, drawing and photography based work. Printmaking and drawing exhibitions can be applied for from the Jyväskylä Art Museum and photography exhibitions can be applied for from the Centre for Creative Photography.
Submissions for Printmaking Exhibitions
The Jyväskylä Art Museum organizes 6-8 exhibitions per year. Each exhibition is programmed for 3 ½ weeks. The application deadline for exhibitions in 2021 is April, 30 2020. The decisions will be made till the end of May.
The year 2018 in the Craft Museum of Finland begins with the Memento exhibition, which consists of solo exhibitions by visual artists Ulla Pohjola and Kaija Poijula. They both are storytellers and with the works they illustrate their inner worlds. Pohjola and Poijula are masters of handling and merging different natural materials. There are mirrors, stones, a burnt loom, skulls, bream scales and fluffs of dandelions in their works. The artists use such techniques as embroidery, painting and collages of objects.
Jyväskylä Art Museum is regional art museum of Central Finland. The mission of the museum is to show and collect visual art from Central Finland, Finnish and international printmaking and photography as well as other national and international artwork complementary to museum’s collections.
